What you’re looking at here is what we commonly insulate. This would be the before portion.
This is some piping that was added recently. We haven’t had a chance to get to the vertical.
This is the same area but older section which we’re still working on. All the straight lines have been done, but we have to go back and insulate the flange 90 degree elbows that also have an additional component welded onto the back. It’s really difficult to insulate.
Most people don’t even do them, but there is a significant heat loss when they are not done. Likely on the nature of $100 dollars per elbow per year if not more than that – and then the hot oil jumpers.
